The process of Domain Name Renewal

ADVERTISEMENTS

It is very important to renew your domain name after you first register it. This is because you can only register your domain name for a determined period of as much as 10 years the first time you do it. However, many people register their domain names for 1 year.

If your domain name is soon expiring, there are some easy steps you should follow for domain name renewal. However, the procedures are not exactly the same at all registrars, but the overall process is the same.

The big majority of registrars send renewal notices one month before the domain name expires. It is advisable for you to renew your domain name as soon as possible when you get that renewal notice because otherwise you might forget about it.

Also, renewing your domain for many years is a good idea because this way you will not have to worry about renewal for a time. There are cases when registrars offer discounts if you renew your domain name for a longer time than the minimal one.

The great thing is that you do not automatically lose your domain name if you forget to renew it on time. This is because there is a grace period of 60 days when the domain name can’t be registered by someone else. You do not want to renew your domain name in that period because it will cost you some fees for manually activating your domain name.

You should always be aware and know exactly when the domain name renewal date comes. Otherwise, you might lose your work and your traffic you fought so much for attracting. Unfortunately, there are people hunting for expiring domain names and you would not want anyone else to enjoy the profits of your work.
